Meet Raven Whitefawn

Headshot_edited.jpg

Hello!

My name is Raven Whitefawn. Pretty sick name, right? Thanks! I received this name from a Shaman from the Blackfoot tribe and couldn’t be more proud of my heritage. Unable to grow up on the reservation like my great-grandparents, I grew up a bit further from home. I grew up in a rural coal town in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Growing up in the boonies proved that curing boredom would require a bit of thinking outside the box! So, I made my own box. A theatre box. One which led me to singing, art and all things theatre.

When I was a child, my father would play indigenous music at home and during car rides. I always found myself humming along and making up lyrics for the instrumental beats or even replicating the hymns and vocal chants of the singers on the tracks. In those car rides and at-home powwows, I found my first love of music. The love that I can only describe as when you feel the sun kiss every part of your skin, or perhaps a sparkling sensation that overtakes your whole body- as if you were vibrating in harmony with the world. Music and song has changed my life in ways that I could go on about for a novel’s length. Maybe I’ll write an auto-biography one day and can fill you in on the details haha! Until then I’ll catch you up on where life has led me.

In May of 2024, I was a first generation graduate and received a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Wilkes University. Since early June of 2024 I have been touring on-and-off with Missoula Children’s Theatre. I have directed and performed from sea to shining sea all the way from Camden, Maine to Fircrest, Washington. In July of 2026, I toured in Singapore! In total I've visited 30 states and 2 countries!

As a queer performing artist, I believe in the accessibility and visibility of queer artistry in theatre SAVES LIVES. I also believe making theatre and creative arts accessible to children and adults of all races, ages and genders has the ability to not only create; but heal and inspire greatness throughout their lives and communities.

So, I strive to sing songs and tell stories so that at least one person can feel like they’ve shared a human experience, and provide a community that gives them permission to feel something and urges them to implore others to do the same. No one can change the world, but I truly believe you can change someone’s world. Eventually, I hope these changed worlds add up to something greater.

We must overcome the notion that we must be regular... it robs you of the chance to be extraordinary and leads you to the mediocre.
